Icelanders have a beautiful tradition of giving books to each other on Christmas Eve and then spending the night reading.
This custom is so deeply ingrained in the culture that it is the reason for the Jolabokaflod, or “Christmas Book Flood,” when the majority of books in Iceland are sold between September and December in preparation for Christmas giving.
It is such a beautiful tradition that I wanted to adopt it myself! So I shall be tucked up this evening finishing my brand new copy of Malinda Lo’s gorgeous book, Ash.
But it wouldn’t be Jolabokaflod without giving! So, I’ve created a little book flood of my own, just for you! Four of my books, for free, for you, enjoy!
Magic and Romance is a cross-genre anthology of Sapphic tales.
If you like reading stories with historical romance, vampires, werewolves, ballroom dancing, contemporary rom-com, or even epic fantasy, all with a twist of lesbian romance and a dash of adventure then you will love this exciting, funny, and free collection of Niamh Murphy’s lesbian short stories.
Contained within Finger Food, you’ll find historical romances, contemporary romances, fantasy, mystery, and more. The stories and novel excerpts included within this collection are each as different as the authors who wrote them. The only thing they have in common is that they each star lesbian protagonists.
Starving and lost Hans and Gretel are saved from a pack of wolves by a mysterious woman. Seduced by her kindness and beauty, Gretel grows closer to her, while Hans becomes ever more suspicious of her motives.
When the spirited daughter of a wealthy aristocrat is captured by a gang of vicious outlaws, she didn’t expect to meet Bess, a young woman teetering between the prospect of adventure and the promise of fast money. What begins as a light-hearted battle of wits soon becomes a desperate quest for survival.
So what do you think? Will you be joining me in Jolabokaflod?
What was the best book you have ever received as a gift? What was the worst?
