Author Profile: Malinda Lo

As some of you may already know, I’m currently running a really fab little fairy tale giveaway, with the chance to win some great swag as well as some paperback copies of fabulous fairytale retellings! So, I have decided to give you a little bit more detail about each of the authors I’ve included!

Before she became a novelist, Malinda was an economics major, an editorial assistant, a graduate student, and an entertainment reporter. She was awarded the 2006 Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for Excellence in LGBT Journalism by the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association for her work at AfterEllen. She is now a critically acclaimed author of several young adult novels, including her most recent, A Line in the Dark:

I stumbled across Malinda Lo on Twitter and quickly grabbed a copy of her debut novel, a gorgeous retelling of Cinderella, Ash:

If you like, you can watch me talk about a couple of my views on the book in the video below:

I really enjoyed Ash, I loved the magical aspects as well as the realism and it has stuck with me long after, I will definitely be checking out the companion story, Huntress, to read more about Kaisa and her story. But right now I have decided that my copy of Ash will be part of my Sapphic Fairy Tale Giveaway! If you are interested in winning a copy of this book and a few others, then take a look by tapping the image below 😀
