Author Profile: Julia Ember

As some of you may already know, I’m currently running a really fab little fairy tale giveaway, with the chance to win some great swag as well as some paperback copies of fabulous fairytale retellings! So, I have decided to give you a little bit more detail about each of the authors I’ve included!

Originally from Chicago, Julia Ember now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. A Bisexual writer, Julia is passionate about diverse literature and regularly takes part in events for queer teens.

In 2016, she published her first novella, Unicorn Tracks, which focused on two girls and their horses (albeit those with horns!) and it when on to become a finalist in the Florida Authors and Publishers’ Association awards for Young Adult fiction.

I first found her when I was looking for lesbian mermaids (as you do) and I found her gorgeously nordic adaptation of The Little Mermaid; The Seafarer’s kiss.

Check out a couple of my thoughts about the book (and some of the controversy surrounding it) in my little video below:

I hope you can tell that I thoroughly enjoyed this story, which is why I decided that it would HAVE to be a part of my Sapphic Fairy Tale Giveaway! If you are interested in winning a copy of this book and a few others, then take a look by tapping the image below 😀
