Caren J. Werlinger is an American physical Therapist by day and by night she crafts fantastical stories influenced by a diverse array of authors, including Rumer Godden, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ursula Le Guin, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Willa Cather, and the Brontë sisters. Her first novel, Looking Through Windows, won a Debut Author award from the Golden Crown Literary Society in 2009 and seen then she has gone on to write twelve more books, including the three books which make up The Dragonmage Saga.

I have just splurged on book one: Rising From The Ashes

This is a story of Dragons, and Warriors, set in an alternative Celtic Ireland and if that isn’t enough to entice you, the main character, Ash, is raised by badgers. Yep. Badgers. Right now this book is on my kindle and I am resisting the urge to read it until my weekend away (in IRELAND!) so I can dive right in without distraction!

But the book that first drew my attention to the fabulous Werlinger, was The Beast That Never Was:

A retelling of Beaty and the Beast, this story has adventure, fantasy, magic, a cursed woman, a dark forest, and a plucky young heroine, Lise, who is hiding her own deep secrets. You can watch me rave a little about the book in my video below:

As you can probably tell, I loved this book, which is why I decided that it would HAVE to be a part of my Sapphic Fairy Tale Giveaway! If you are interested in winning a copy of this book and a few others, then take a look by tapping the image below 😀
